§ 2-96. Department of economic and community development.

  • There is hereby created and established a department of economic and community development which shall be responsible for the administration and enforcement for the requirements of obtaining a building permit and other permits relating to construction and shall be responsible for the inspection of buildings to ensure compliance with the building code and other codes involved in buildings. This department shall also be responsible for enforcement and administration of the zoning ordinance and ordinances relating to environmental matters. This department shall also be responsible for the parks and recreational facilities of the town and perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the town manager in writing. The director of this department shall be appointed by the town manager subject to the approval of the town council and may be removed by the town manager with the approval of the town council. The director of this department shall keep the town manager informed as to the activities of said department.
