§ 18-53. Powers and duties.

  • (a)

    When any person shall have voted, his name shall be checked on the margin of the page opposite thereto upon the registration list by one of the inspectors, and the clerk of the election shall keep a poll list which shall contain one column headed "names of voters" and the name of each elector voting shall be entered by the clerk in such column as he voted.

    (b)

    The inspectors of election shall have the authority and power to prevent all repeating, and to prevent any person from voting a second time at the same election when they have good reason to believe such person had already voted.

    (c)

    The inspectors of election shall have full power to refuse to allow any person to vote who is not a qualified elector or who has become disqualified for any cause to vote in such election.

    (d)

    The inspectors of election may also prevent any elector from consuming more than five minutes in voting.

    (e)

    The inspectors of election shall possess full authority to maintain good order at the polls and to enforce obedience to their lawful commands during an election and during the canvass and estimate of the votes.
